It is Confirmation time! This is a big time! A time of beginnings, a time of great decision, a time of entering into a new stage of life. The decisions made during Confirmation are ones only the Confirmand can make and they are life changing decisions that are only the beginning! This is a time of entrance into a new phase of life! This is an exciting time!
This year Confirmation will be held on Sunday afternoons from 3:30pm to 5:30pm and then join the rest of the youth group for snack supper.
The Confirmands will gather on January 8, 15, 29, February 5, 12, 19, 26, March 4, 11, 18, 25, and April 1, 2012.
We will go to Camp Lookout for a Confirmation Retreat the weekend of February 17-18, 2012. This cost will be around $55 to $60 per Confirmand
We will arrive at Camp Lookout around 4pm on Friday and leave around 4pm on Saturday.
The fee covers lodging, 3 meals, and an activity while on the mountain.
Camp Lookout will send out finalized information around the first of the year and I will share this information as soon as I get it from them!
Confirmation Sunday will be April 8, 2012 - Easter Sunday!
We will be using the new United Methodist Confirmation material, Credo. The Confirmand journal is $10.00 and the guide for parents and mentors is $7.00.
After prayer and conversation, if your youth is ready to go through confirmation, to make the big decision of joining the church and entering into a new phase of their Christian journey, two things need to happen.
1. Please sign up using the link below and give Heather payment for the Confirmand Journal, the Parent's Guide Book and the Mentor's Guide Book ($24.00) no later than Decmeber 28, 2011.
2. The Confirmands must pray about and ask a member of the congregation to be their mentor by the January 8, 2012 meeting. This person should be someone whom they respect and see as a good Christian role model. The mentor will be charged to pray for their Confirmand and be responsible to meet with the youth each month and discuss their faith and the ideas and topics brought up by Confirmation.
